What's in every fence job

  1. Utility locate. NC811 is called at least three working days before any digging.
  2. Posts. 4×4 pressure-treated ground-contact posts set in concrete, 8 ft or less apart.
  3. Grade. The fence follows your ground or steps down it. We'll decide together which looks right.
  4. Permit. Pulled where your town requires one. Raleigh requires one for most new fences.
  5. Cleanup. Scraps picked up and hauled off every day.
  6. Insured. BlueBrick carries general liability insurance on every job.
  7. In writing. A written contract, signed before any work starts.

Fence questions

Do I need a permit?

Raleigh: a zoning permit is required to add or move a fence, replace half or more of one, or change its material, height or location. Cary: usually not, unless the fence is along a collector street or thoroughfare or over 8 ft. Apex: front-yard fences over 4 ft need one. We check your address and handle it.

Who finds the property line?

You do, and we build where you tell us. If you're not sure where the line is, get a survey before we build, especially next to a neighbor's fence.

Why do wood fences get gaps and checks?

Pressure-treated pine goes in wet. As it dries it shrinks and can check, twist or cup a little. That's normal for wood, and staining after it dries helps it last.

Do you install vinyl or chain link?

Ask us. We quote them case by case.
